My Girl

The star attraction at our house these past few weeks has been my beautiful daughter Angel! First it was class night, then Graduation and now it's only two days until her open house! We have everything cleared out of the garage (and wouldn't it be a dream if we could keep it that way, but like my husband says...it's a garage...), the picture boards are ready to be put up, final decorations and the tent to be pitched right outside the garage. It's going to be a wonderful day. Oh yes...and not to be forgotten the food! We are having pulled pork, home made meatballs, baked beans, cheesy taters, chili dip and then a few other food items. It's going to be good! Here is just ONE of the picture boards I have done, in all there are 6 of these large tri fold poster boards:




I wanted to make a "special" layout for Angel to give to her from my heart and of course I thought it would be great if I could combine it with a challenge from Cookin' Up Creations birthday challenge. I looked at Thursday's challenge and thought I might possibly make it work, but wasn't sure about the use of polka dots. The challenge was to use circles and polka dots and the color red. As you can see from the layout below I got all the requirements in, I even pen stitched around the BoBunny AdLib sheet with a red gel pen. All of the papers and the embellies (minus the Red Thickers) came with the brightly colored April Kit from The Scrapping Spot. And if you are feeling summer, you should check out their June kit, those flip flops are really cute!

So I bet you would like to see this "special" layout, wouldn't you? Here it is and here is the journaling that I wrote on it using that very kewl gel pen that came with the kit (and it was RED to fit more criteria of the challenge!): Angel, Ten years ago our future was in someone else's hands. You could have been placed anywhere and I would never have known you! I can't imagine that! We both would have missed out on so much. I can never say this enough- "I'm so glad I'm your mom and that you're my girl. Love Mom 06-12-11 Do you think she will like it when she sees it on Sunday?


I also did this one earlier in the week, with pictures of the girls at the Class Night Party. I used a WIP kit and loved working with it!

Class Night

Hi Everybody!
The weather here in Northern (lower) Michigan has finally decided to get in tune with the calendar, we have been having beaUtiful weather!

I've been having a wonderful time doing challenges and getting to know the girls over at COOKIN' Up Creations! Last week in the What's For Dinner Section Cassy posted this link for these cute cupcakes. Right away I knew I wanted to make them since my beautiful daughter Angel is graduating. I suggested to her she have an "After Class Night Party" and she thought it would be a great idea, so she invited some of her Senior friends for a sleep over and I whipped these out.
I inherited alot of Wilton cake decorating tips and this was a good chance to use them.



Cassie also posted this link! I thought the projects on I Scrap U Scrap were so cute! Right away my mind started clicking about how I could make some of these to give out as party favors at the party and this is what I came up with for these:

Oh my gosh! It's been nearly a year since I've posted anything here! I wonder if anyone has even missed me? Ah well...it's time to start posting again and hopefully get better at putting pictures on here.
So much has happened in the last year! Rick went to Alpena College and graduated two weeks ago, he's now looking for a job to become an apprentice in the Utility Tech Field. Angel started her Senior Year of High School and is about to graduate! Brandon almost has his first year of High School in.
I had a car accident in December totaling out my TrailBlazer.
I made my goal weight and become a Lifetime member of Weight Watchers and in fact I'm working there now as a receptionist.
Allan's mom passed away in March and that was very hard.
The grandkids are doing well and growing. (and giving me lots of pictures to scrap!)
Speaking of scrapping I haven't done any in a month BUT there is a challenge coming up at My Scraps and More that I really hope to take part in. I figure it will be a good way to get back into scrapping! Maybe I'll see you there?

There IS life after graduation!

I have to admit that yes, I did enjoy graduation and I did shed many tears, but we all knew that was going to happen! Graduation may be over but not in my heart as I'm now scrapping some of the pictures that were taken for the event...
The first one was for a challenge @ Scrap Book Deals 4 U. It's for the Camp Rock Challenge. The requirements were that there had to be a picture of myself, and a nickname on it and also use a favorite color and a not so favorite color. Mine was titled Mammy and I hung it for display on the quilt that I made for Rick for his open house. I included on it: At graduation I kept thinking about when we brought you home from the hospital. I remember being so surprised that they left me and dad in charge of taking care of you! I thought it was a huge responsibility and it scared me. Then I turned around and there you were walking across that stage and receiving your diploma! How had this happened and where did the years go? Then I began thinking that I hoped that Dad and I had fulfilled our responsibility and not only take n care of you but instilled in you the things that we felt were important in life! I also smiled and hoped that I will always be Mammy to you!
The second lo was also a challenge but a sketch challenge designed by , I loved it! This one my husband did the journaling on and it reads: Rick, this hug is just as special as the
first time I held you. Someday you will
know how proud I am of you and all
that you have accomplished. You are
truly my bud. I look forward to the
next phase of your life and I’m sure that
you’ll make us all proud then as you
have now…Love Dad
He's also going to sign it once he gets around to it!

It's been a busy, busy house around here, but in a week and half all the excitement will be gone and then clean up time! But that is then and this is now and now is EXCITING! Last night was class night for the Seniors and yes of course I cried! Tomorrow is STATE Track for individuals that Rick has qualified to run in and then Sunday is graduation! Sigh....where did the years go?

I've been busy making table decorations and picture boards...I think I kinda' over done it on the boards, I have five of them...I really didn't mean to but I just had so many pictures I wanted people to see of Rick's life! I made one for Life, Sports, Family, Friends and School. But I am done with them! Now moving on to actually figuring out how much pulled pork does one need to feed a hundred people?
